Oral History Interview Reflection (excerpts):

I learned that it can be difficult to conduct an oral history interview. I had a little trouble getting the person I interviewed to expand on their ideas. Although it was enjoyable to listen to a part of his life and his opinion on the topic.

I learned more about peaceful protesting vs rioting.

Conducting an oral history was a little nerve-wracking but I’m glad I had this experience.

My tip would be to take advantage of the different types of interview questions you are taught from the book. Things like legacy questions can be very good to implement in certain types of interviews. This class may seem like a lot at first, but it’s only as hard as you make it on yourself. You get plenty of time to complete assignments and the professor will be helpful if you need anything. Just don’t put it off and you’ll do great.
