About

Early Life

Hello! My name is Hannah Ellis. I was born at Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, West Virginia on March 15, 1999. I lived with my parents in a modest apartment in Chapmanville, West Virginia. When I turned a year old, my parents and I moved to our current residence in McConnell.

High School Experience

I began attending Logan High School in 2013. During my four years there, I participated in many clubs and organizations. I served as class Chaplain all four years of high school and was a member of the Student Council. I also served as Historian of the Prayer Club, Secretary of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), President of Teens Against Alcohol and Drugs (TAAD), and Vice President of Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD). In 2016, I was inducted into the National Honor Society. I also obtained a Business Completers certificate in accounting and finance by completing the required classes. In May of 2017, I graduated high school and I earned a scholarship to attend college.

The Beginning of My Higher Education Journey

After graduating high school, I began attending college during the Fall 2017 semester. During my first semester, I applied and interviewed to become an ambassador.  I was one of seven students selected to become a Southern Ambassador. My job was to recruit new students, give campus tours, host events and other activities for the community. During my second semester, I was elected Treasurer and was a member of the Student Government Association. I held that position until I graduated. While attending Southern, I was inducted into The National Society of Leadership and Success and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. I maintained 4.0 GPA all four semesters and in May 2019, I graduated with my associate degree in Business Administration.

Daughter of Marshall

I began studying at Marshall University in 2019 after transferring from SWVCTC. I am majoring in entrepreneurship and marketing. I also have a minor in management. While attending school at Marshall, I participated in the West Virginia Innovation and Business Model Competition and came in 4th place. I also participated in the Jewel City Jumpstart Program and came in 1st place and went on to pitch my business idea to real investors. The investors loved my idea and now I am currently working on my product and will soon have a prototype made at the Robert C. Byrd Institute. At Marshall I have been inducted into four honor societies: The Gamma Beta Phi Honor and Service Society, Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, Society for Advancement of Management, and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. I am also the President of The Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization. I was recently awarded a certificate for academic achievement in entrepreneurship at the 2022 Elizabeth Gibson Drinko Honors Convocation. I will be graduating April 30, 2022, with my bachelor’s in business administration.

Work Experience

I have never had a paying job but have done lots of volunteer work. I am currently the food pantry director at The First Baptist Church of McConnell. My job is to run the pantry, keep track of all the inventory, weigh the food, submit reports, run the social media page, and distribute food. I am also the owner and stylist of Queen Esther’s Closet and Boutique, a second-hand sustainable fashion boutique that sells pre-loved items on Poshmark. I oversee all the accounting, social media marketing, cleaning and repairing items, photography, listing, selling, packaging orders, and purchasing inventory to resell. I donate the profits I make to the Christmas Outreach Project to purchase Christmas gifts for children living in poverty. Running Queen Esther’s Closet and Boutique is one of the most rewarding and exciting jobs I have had because I get to work with clothing (I love fashion) and repair and clean unwanted items and give them a new home. Not only that, but these items are being saved from ending up in landfills and it also goes to a good cause.

Career Goals

After I graduate college, I would like to get a job in marketing while working on my company. Any marketing job will do, but I would love to do social media marketing because it is something that I really like. Once I build up my business and can survive and live comfortably, I would like to just focus on the company and continue working as the CEO and also the designer.
