The primary focus is on understanding the processes involved in the formation of sedimentary rocks, with the ultimate goal of interpreting ancient depositional environments from outcrop and drill core. Includes an introduction to petrographic analysis of both siliciclastic and carbonate sedimentary rocks. The focus is on processes that operate to shape the Earth\u2019s landscape and landforms and surface materials that develop in response to those processes.
